From 07ᵗʰ – 09ᵗʰ May 2026, within the framework of the Innovative Artificial Intelligence in Quality Assurance Management for Higher Education in Viet Nam (InnoAIQA-VN) Project under the DIES – National Multiplication Trainings (NMT) 2025–2026 Programme, Workshop 2 entitled “AI Use in Higher Education Quality Assurance: Opportunities, Challenges and Ethical Dimensions” was successfully organized at Tay Nguyen University.

The workshop welcomed the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam – Director, Viet Nam National University – Ho Chi Minh City, Center for Education Accreditation; Mr. Benjamin Jung – InnoAIQA-VN Project Advisor, Center for Quality Development, Department for Higher Education Studies, University of Potsdam, Germany; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Duc Niem – Vice-Rector, Tay Nguyen University; Dr. Duong Van Thinh – Chairman, AI & Data Center Vietnam; M.Ed. Ho Dac Hai Mien – Vice Director, Viet Nam National University – Ho Chi Minh City, Center for Education Accreditation; together with project members including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Phuong Truong (Lac Hong University), Dr. Nguyen Thi Huyen (University of Science, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City), and Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering). In particular, the workshop gathered 20 leaders and educational administrators from nine higher education institutions participating in the project nationwide.

Workshop 2 was one of the key activities of the InnoAIQA-VN Project, designed as an academic forum for sharing experiences and practical approaches to applying artificial intelligence in higher education quality assurance. Through thematic presentations, group discussions, and collaborative activities, the workshop aimed to connect leaders, administrators, and experts in quality assurance while creating opportunities for higher education institutions to exchange perspectives on opportunities, challenges, and ethical issues related to AI integration in higher education.

The workshop also contributed to the broader objective of the InnoAIQA-VN Project: enhancing the capacity of university leaders and administrators across Vietnam in effectively integrating AI into quality assurance processes, improving institutional performance, promoting ethical AI adoption, and gradually building a sustainable professional network to foster innovation in higher education quality assurance management.

During the first working day, participants attended a series of in-depth sessions focusing on key issues in higher education quality assurance in the context of digital transformation. Topics included Internal quality assurance systems in higher education institutions; Essential Competencies for Students and Staff in Higher Education; Ethics and challenges of AI application in IQA for higher education; Building an AI-integrated quality assurance data warehouse for program and institutional evaluation and continuous improvement; and Data security and safety in AI-driven data exploitation.

The sessions created an open academic environment that encouraged meaningful exchanges between theoretical perspectives, management practices, and institutional experiences in implementing AI-driven quality assurance initiatives.

The second working day continued with discussions on AI Policies and Regulatory Frameworks: Insights from Germany and Institutional Exchange, and exchanges among Vietnamese higher education institutions.

A highlight of the programme was the talk show entitled “Changes and impacts of AI on IQA in Vietnamese higher education – Sharing good practices”, featuring experts and representatives from higher education institutions. The discussion provided diverse perspectives on the impact of AI on accreditation, data governance, decision-making support, and the development of quality culture in higher education. Participants also shared practical implementation models, lessons learned, and ethical concerns related to AI application.

In addition to academic activities, the workshop included a field experience programme entitled “Asset-Based Community Development: Tay Nguyen local coffee value chain story”. This activity enhanced networking among participants while introducing the cultural values and community development models associated with the unique identity of the Central Highlands region.

The final working day focused on project implementation reports presented by participating groups. Representatives from higher education institutions showcased the outcomes of AI-related initiatives at their institutions through presentations and project posters. The reports reflected diverse approaches and practical applications of AI in management, quality assurance, and decision-making support across institutions. These activities demonstrated the collaborative, innovative, and mutually supportive spirit of the InnoAIQA-VN project community.

Workshop 2 concluded with a closing session and certificate presentation ceremony for participants. Both Workshop 2 and the overall InnoAIQA-VN Project were highly appreciated by participants not only for their timely and practical academic content but also for fostering collaboration, experience sharing, and the development of a professional community focused on AI in higher education quality assurance in Vietnam.

The InnoAIQA-VN Project has now completed an important phase with many positive outcomes, while also opening new expectations for the continued dissemination of innovative initiatives and the responsible, effective application of AI in alignment with the digital transformation of Vietnamese higher education.
